Katherine is not what I expected but has everything you need without being over the top. The main street has real good music playing all day and although there are lots of Aborigines who shout to each other and sit outside shops and under the trees they seem very tolerant about the invasion of tourists. We managed to get some housekeeping done, Dave had broken his glasses which had snapped at the bridge so they were sent off to Darwin to be fixed, so much for Vasache frames!! I managed to get a good hair cut and colour although nearly drowned by the little girl washing my hair who was on work experience. We had a nice couple next to us at the caravan park and he did sign writing so Dave chose a style and the words to go on the back of the caravan and it was only $55, Dave was thrilled with it. We went to the hot springs and although a sign warned you about crocodiles all the locals and tourists swam in the creek so we went in although secretly I felt very nervous about it. The weather is really nice although very hot in the day the evenings are superb, warm and balmy with no wind at all. Dave had a nice fathers day with communication from all the kids and I enclose a photo of Dave talking to David whilst we were in the Katherine Gorge which incidentally cost us $11 for an ice block and ice cream. Anyway watch this space for more tourist news as there is a lot to do in Katherine.
