Warwick, waterfalls and walks

We had another late morning and have realised we really are not morning people even though we have got up early for work each day.We have decided not to fight it and just enjoy. It's not that we sleep, we have coffee and watch breakfast TV, tidy up etc. Today we went to Pringle cottage which is a museum displaying household memorabilia, but it had far more than that, it was fabulous. There was a newspaper printing shop, grocers shop, church hall and a shepherd's hut. The stuff they had was very old and displayed as life like rooms and shops. The cottage was never lived in as a house but mainly as a private school and although the man who built it thought he would be able to sell it, no one was interested in a 2 storey house. There was so many old tins in the store and our friend Hal from Carnarvon would have been really interested, also the printing equipment in the newspaper shop would have been of interest to Mike our friend in NZ. We spent a couple of hours there and the volunteer played some old gramophone records for us which sounded really good. We then went for a drive and followed a couple of scenic routes that the tourist bureau recommended. One was a settlers route which took us through 5 villages across the Darling Downs and they were lovely, the countryside is so pretty and very different to WA. Green grass and sprawling countryside with many hills, lovely old cottages and houses, many of them on stilts. The falls drive included very scenic waterfalls, we had lunch by the Dagg's falls which was the first one we came across. We then went on to the Queen Mary falls and walked the circular route to the bottom of the falls, which was a challenge for Dave and I, it was only 2.5kms but quite steep. The view from Carr's Lookout was one of the most amazing views I have seen in a longtime. A sundial showed all the positions of the mountains and the one to the left of the photos is called Mt Superbus where a plane crash in 1955 killed all including a nurse and sick child, some wreckage is still there. It is also the head waters of the Condamine River which runs into the Murray-Darling, the longest river system in Australia. We so enjoyed our day and feel really lucky to have the opportunity to see such wonderful places.
