Spoilt in Brisbane

Hello everyone, we have had a fantastic time with our family so had no time for blogging I'm afraid. We were treated to a night in Brisbane with David and Lee to celebrate our retirement which of course they missed. We were booked into an apartment overlooking the river and the Story bridge which gave us a beautiful view to look at, not that we were in there very much, we packed heaps into the Sat pm and Sunday am. On the Saturday we caught the ferry into the CBD and looked at the shops, we were very impressed with the ferry service and of course now we are retirees we get super concession rate, it cost us $3.50 each to use the ferries all day and night and you can really get about. Brisbane is lovely with the river being it's focal point, there was so much going on.That evening we caught the ferry to the South Bank and we went on the big wheel aka "The eye in the sky" and had a great view of Brisbane. We then went back on the ferry and was taken to Restaurant two for a degastation meal which was 9 courses and wine inbetween courses. It was beautiful and we tasted some lovely food and wine including a couple of French wines which we loved. Thanks David and Lee for such a lovely time XX. The next morning we drove to the power house situated again by the river, the interior of the building shows the original walls and it has been converted to an Arts centre and a restaurant at the front. We drove down James Street to the James Street markets and had a lovely breakfast and looked at the beautiful produce in the market, we had coffee at a place that roasts the coffee and thought of Brett and the roaster he has just out into Rocketfuel. The only comment really about Brisbane that is slightly negative was tit was hard to park the car. We then went over to South Bank and the the markets which were fabulous, we then strolled along the bank and saw the beach they have (next to the river) which also has a lifeguard. We left in the afternoon back to Kirra Beach as we had to pack for our trip to Surfers Paradise with the rest of the family ( not forgetting Trude and Bob who couldn't make it). All in all we loved Brisbane and was very impressed, we had a great time with David and Lee who encouraged us to have a good look around and were great companions to share our exploring with.
